You're exactly right, Melissa. No matter how much those around the "afflicted" person want to help them, there's nothing anyone else can do. Short of having them legally put into rehab/therapy, but…

Another one dies at 27. Let's see, that's now... Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Brandon Lee and Amy Winehouse. All died at 27... too young. I'm 27! I can't even imagine...
